Black Wednesday for ABSU, Umuahia campus

It is indeed a black Wednesday for students and staff of Abia state university, Umuahia campus as one of her staff was killed in an accident across the school gate involving a truck driver. The Umudike road leading to ABSU and the Michael Okpara University, Umudike is a very narrow, curvey and hilly one where trailers,heavy-duty truks and lorries ply on a daily with tremendous speed, despite the bad shaped size of the road. A visit to ABSU,Umuahia campus at the close of work/school hours, one would see a considerable number of students and staff all lined up by the road side waiting for buses and tricycles to convey them to their destinations. This after school rush hour wait isn't usually an easy one, because the vehicles are limited and the few you could see are either filled or has limited seats, hence the struggle is real on this death-trap road. Today, during one of those moments, a speeding truck crashed into the queue of people waiting, killing of of the staff of the university. Though it is federal road, people have been of the opinion that road bumps be built on this road to curtail the speed limits of these vehicles especially at the spot in front of the school gate.
